Leaf Collage: Original
We made collages, and scanned them...this is the original part of our final project.

Leaf Collage: Part 2
The objective here was to maintain the same value, yet create contrast through hue, saturation and temperature.

Leaf Collage: Part 3
The objective of this was to use the same color, and maintain contrast through saturation and value.

Leaf Collage: Part 4
The objective of this one was to maintain the same chroma throughout the image, but change the color, temperature and values to create contrast.

Leaf Collage: Part 5
This was my free study--I opted to just cut up the leaf. :) (among other things, of course...)

Interacting Systems 1
The first in the series; we began by overlapping perpendicular systems black and white lines.

Interacting Systems 2
Second step; we began "notching" or adding in miscellaneous lines, respecting the original perpendiculars.

Interacting Systems 3
Third part: the final black and white version...a little more notching than before.

Interacting Systems 4
This one's the color version of the last one, and the final step in the project. This is one sexy image.

Implied Shapes 1
Black and White version. The task was to imply at least two shapes in the image, making use of linear systems (see above).

Implied Shapes 2
The colored version of the previous image. (sorta)

Irregular Curves Study
The task was to make a dynamic, flowing form that did not resemble the shapes from which it was made.

Interaction of Line
We had to utilize a line, a regular curve and an irregular curve and make them relate. (Are we having fun yet?)

Final Project
Black and White version.

Final Project
Color Version.
At this point it's certain: I do not like Illustrator. :P

Orthogonal Cube
We were asked to create a cube out of bristol board that demonstrated symmetry and asymmetry and yet retained a cube-like shape.

Monolith
This is a form that's designed to "interest the hand." It's made of wormy soft maple and required a hell of a lot of sanding to get it as smooth as it is! (This has got to be one of my favorite projects that we did.)

Mouse & Dragon Animation
This took a while but it was really fun to make! It's about 20 seconds long, so I hope you've got a fast connection!
(Requires Quicktime. Created in Cinema 4D)

Cut-Away Cube
We were required to make at least 8 cuts from a cube...this was the first bit of creativity we were allowed to show! :D

Anti-Opisthodomos
Our final project for the line drawing section...I enjoyed this. We had to incorporate each shape at least once, and could make cuts into any of the shapes. :)

Final Project
This was a still life of several clay figures I made...I think it's cute. :)

Box Composition
This was the first composition of the quarter...we had to use at least 3 boxes. Ooo..I'm an overachiever; I used five! Hmm...

Glass Composition
This was a late-night project. (I've had many of those this quarter...) This was kinda fun though...playing with light is always interesting.
Prismacolor Pencils

White Ribbon
I really like how this one came out. This is one of those "accidentally creating form" pieces. Ooooooo...

Ribbon Composition
The composition isn't that great, but I like how the look of the ribbons came out.
Prismacolor Pencils

Shoe Composition
Though we had the option of using color, I decided to go black-and-white. This is one of my old shoes! :D The shading on the fabric was made up. Yes, I'm proud of that. :)

PVC Pipe
I really like how this one came out as well...
Prismacolor Pencils

Car Drawing
We did a car portfolio, but I pulled this one out as it was the only image in the portfolio in color (the rest were line drawings or silouettes). Anyway...the car I used as reference was red, for what it's worth.
Prismacolor Pencils

Architectural Drawing
This has been nicknamed "Post-Apocalyptic UC" by my drawing class...I opted to take out all the buildings behind this one. This is a view from the top floor of my dorm (minus a few buildings and a sunset).
Prismacolor Pencils

Shiva/Plant
We were asked to integrate a plant and a sculpture. I chose a Shiva and a bonsai tree.
Conte

Cow Skull
This one was kinda fun to draw...lots of little details. :)
Conte

Skull, Lateral View
This was a subtractive drawing from my skull portfolio.
Charcoal, Conte

Skull, Front View
This was a late-nighter, but I really enjoyed this one too...lots of detail and color!
Prismacolor Pencils

Michaelangelo Drawing Copy
One of our assignments was to copy an old master drawing.
Ebony Pencil

Self-Portrait
I wanted to do something more interesting for my final project than just me sitting in front of a mirror, staring at myself blankly. So it now looks as though there's an arm from nowhere reaching out to grab my face. Creepy.

(WARNING! Most Images Contain Nudity.)

Two Nude Females
This was one of my favorite models to draw--she was so skinny that there were so many little details to draw, and yet fleshy enough that there were curves too.
Charcoal, Conte

Hand Studies
Fun!
Ink

Two Nude Males
This was my other favorite model--he was a bodybuilder (clearly!) and also had a lot of detail to him. Very cool.
Charcoal, Conte

Reclining Nude Male
I really didn't like this model. I don't think he understood contrapposto. (Notice that this is my only pic of him...)
Conte

Old Master Composition 1
Copy of several Michaelangelo sketches and paintings. I like Mike.

Old Master Composition 2
I just didn't get enough of his work the first time. (We were actually asked to do these for our sketchbooks, in case you're wondering.)

Female Model on Bench
I really like how the light came out on this...

"Othello"
Our professor suggested that we apply a character to this pose and draw it according to the mood conveyed.

Fashion Model Pose
Our goal was to understand how cloth interacted with the human form.

Nude Female on Bench
While I didn't enjoy draing this model very much at all, some of the detail that came from her...veluptuosity...made it interesting!

Reclining Nude
This came out to look a lot more dynamic than the pose was...that's exciting!

Three Nude Males
Again, my favorite male model to draw...he was just neat and intricate!
